Regents Name Cherry Interim President
TAHLEQUAH -- The Regional University System of Oklahoma board of regents has appointed Kim Cherry to serve as Interim President of Northeastern State University, pending their selection of a new president.
The decision was made during the boards regular monthly meeting last week in Ada.
Cherry was named Acting President in April 2007, assuming the official duties of NSU President Dr. Larry Williams during his recovery from a heart attack.
Williams, a 40-year veteran of higher education, announced in December he would retire effective June 30. He became Northeasterns fifteenth president in July 1997.
RUSO, which serves as NSUs governing board, is currently conducting a search for a new president, who is expected to assume the duties of the office no later than July 1.
Cherry has continued in her capacity as Vice President for Administration since assuming the role of Acting President. She has selected NSU Associate Vice President for Administration Tim Foutch to serve as interim vice president, supervising many of the administrative services offered on the Northeasterns three campuses.
