Burrow to Present NSUs Battenfield-Carletti Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture

TAHLEQUAH -- Terry Burrow, president and chief executive officer of Burrow Construction Inc. (BCI) in Fort Gibson, will present the Northeastern State University 2008 Battenfield-Carletti Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture on Wednesday, March 5, at 9 a.m. in the NET Building Auditorium. A question and answer session will follow at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Burrow, who graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and earned a Master of Business Administration from NSU in 1998, will offer insights learned throughout his distinguished business career that spans 37 years.

Getting his start as an assistant buyer for Foleys Department Stores, Burrow quickly advanced to group sales manager and senor assistant buyer, then worked six years for Dillards Department Store as a buyer and divisional merchandise manager. After serving as sales manager for Ther-a-pedic Sleep Products in a four-state area, he purchased Muskogee Fence, which he owned from 1984 until 2003. Six years later, he started Burrow Barn Builders, and incorporated in 1994 as Burrow Construction, where he stocked lumber and specialty products for the post frame industry. He founded BCI Truss in 2000, and moved the business from Muskogee to Fort Gibson in 2006.

His latest venture, BCI Metal Forming, was launched earlier this year. Sales volume for 2008 is projected to exceed $26 million with a work force of 65 employees.

Established in 2002 by Dr. Harold Battenfield and Dr. John Carletti through the NSU Foundation, the Battenfield-Carletti Distinguished Entrepreneur Lecture Series brings NSU alumni to campus to share their entrepreneurial experiences with students.

The NSU Foundation was established in 1971 to assist the University in its efforts to provide an excellent education for students through high-quality teaching, research, and scholarly activities, service to local and professional communities, and high expectations for all.
