Northeastern to Offer Certified Financial Planner Program
Northeastern to Offer Certified Financial Planner Program
TAHLEQUAH State Farm continues its partnership with Northeastern State University with a gift of $75,000. The funds will be used to create a financial services concentration for Northeastern finance and accounting majors. The addition of the State Farm Foundation Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Certification Program means Northeastern will be able to provide the only undergraduate level CFP board registered program in Oklahoma.
"State Farm is committed to education and supporting programs that enhance our financial education offerings," said NSU President Dr. Larry Williams. "Northeastern is proud State Farm chose this University for continued investment in educational programming and the education of State Farm's next workforce."
Contributions from State Farm will provide funds for NSU faculty to complete CFP certification this summer, add additional classroom equipment (laptop computers, video projector) as well as provide resources for outreach seminars and continuing education credit courses for both industry professionals and students.
The newly enhanced curriculum will offer the following classes at both Tahlequah and Broken Arrow campuses (on a rotating basis): Income Tax, Professional Financial Planning, Insurance, Investments, Retirement Planning, and Estate Planning.
"We're excited to be able to support this program and continue our partnership with Northeastern," said Rendi Black, State Farm vice president of Agency. "State Farm has a long standing commitment to education. We look forward to outstanding results for the CFP program and the impact it makes in educating our workforce."
State Farm will make an official presentation to Northeastern on the NSU-Broken Arrow campus, Friday, February 27, at 10:30 a.m. Oklahoma Congressman John Sullivan, a Northeastern graduate, as well as Broken Arrow Mayor Richard Carter and Broken Arrow Chamber representatives will be on hand for the historic event.
