Student Organizations Host Diversity Week

TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State Universitys Diversity Week kicked off Monday, March 31 and continues through April 4 with a number of student-led events.

Diversity week is a week full of events that showcase the different diversity here at NSU, said Laura Boren, dean of Student Affairs. Each event is hosted by different student organizations on campus. Diversity Week allows students to connect on different levels, through cultural, ethnic, religious and other activities.

Events started Monday with a disability obstacle course being held at the UC Circle Drive. The Northeastern Student Government Association hosted a diversity block party in the university ballroom from 6-8 p.m.

On Tuesday night, Campus Christian Fellowship is hosting a potluck dinner at the CCF building from 6-8 p.m.

The Association for Black Collegians is holding a Kwanzaa celebration and dinner on Wednesday, April 2. The celebration starts at 5:30 p.m. and will take place at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) building located on the corner of Garrison and Grand. The Northeastern Activities Board will host a movie night at 7:30 p.m. at the NET Auditorium.

Starting on Thursday, the NAB will host its annual sidewalk-chalking event at the UC Circle Drive. Students can write messages and draw pictures during this event. Mr. NSU, a contest that gives scholarships to the winners, takes place Thursday night at the Center for Performing Arts. The contest starts at 6:30 p.m. Also on Thursday night is a jazz concert by the Jazz Combos.

Diversity Week concludes with the Greek Week Talent Show, taking place at the NET Auditorium at 7 p.m.
