NSUBA Announces Outstanding Seniors

NSUBA Announces Outstanding Seniors

BROKEN ARROW Northeastern State University Broken Arrow recently presented four graduating students with Outstanding Senior Awards at a special ceremony on Friday, April 18 on the Broken Arrow campus.

The Outstanding Seniors Awards are given to deserving seniors each year who are nominated by NSUBA faculty and staff. Recipients have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher, have demonstrated their concern for Northeastern through campus and community involvement, and are considered all-around students who typify the spirit of NSU.

The four students are:

Meagan Newsome

Broken Arrow
Business Administration

Meagan is the daughter of Jeff and Peggy Newsome. She has served president of Baptist Collegiate Ministries, vice president of the Northeastern Student Government Association and has participated in the DELTA Leadership Academy. She has also been nominated to Phi Theta Kappa and Delta Mu Delta Honor Societies and listed on the Deans and Presidents Honor Rolls.

Alice Rathe

Broken Arrow
Library Media and Information Technology

Alice is the wife of Mark and the mother of Andrew and Tyler Rathe. Alice has served as the student liaison for the Library Media and Information Technology Student Association, is a member of the Oklahoma Library Association and the National Library Association, and has been very active in the Parent-Teacher Association at Metro Christian Academy.

Taunia Smith

Tulsa
Elementary Education

Taunia is the daughter of Ann Winkle and the wife of Casey Smith. She has served as vice president of the Students of Oklahoma Education Association and is a board member of the Tulsa County Reading Council. She is a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Rho Theta Sigma Honor Societies. Taunia has also served as a sponsor at Patrick Henry Elementary, a board member of the Edison Spring Market and is the vice president and a charter member of the Eagle Takedown Club.

Olaf Standley

Tulsa
English

Olaf is the son of Cynthia Standley. He has served as the chairman of the Student Advisory Board for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, treasurer of the Oklahoma Student Government Association and spearheaded the establishment of the Northeastern Student Government Association Broken Arrow, also becoming the organizations first president. He has been active in Oklahoma Intercollegiate Legislature and is a member of Alpha Chi honor society.
