Enjoy An Evening Of Bluegrass With Dry Branch Fire Squad

TAHLEQUAH The 22nd Annual Galaxy of Stars at Northeastern State University will take a bow with an artful twang with the Saturday, May 3 concert by Dry Branch Fire Squad.

The bluegrass sensation from Ohio takes the stage at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. to cap another stellar season of arts and entertainment presented by the Sequoyah Institute. NSU will also host a Community Bluegrass Jam from 3-5 p.m. at Norris Park in Downtown Tahlequah prior to the performance.

As we wrap up another amazing season of the arts through the Galaxy of Stars Series and prepare for the 2008 Stars in the Summer Series, we have an exciting evening filled with old-time entertainment planned, said Megan White, director of the Sequoyah Institute. Well be pickin and grinnin at Norris Park and then listening to the amazing talents of the members of Dry Branch Fire Squad.

Adored for its droll, scampy stage shows, Dry Branch Fire Squad has become an institution in American acoustic music. Inspired by a fierce and uncompromising loyalty to the most traditional aspects of bluegrass, old time and southern gospel music, Dry Branch Fire Squad is fueled by the musical vision and cultural commentary of Ron Thomason.

The Community Bluegrass Jam is free and open to the public. Tickets for Dry Branch Fire Squad are $20 for adults, $18 for NSU alumni, $16 for NSU employees, $14 for senior citizens, $12 for groups of 10 or more, $10 for students and children, and $5 for NSU students.
