Reception to Honor Dr. Lallie Scott Day

The Foreign Languages Building at SWUST was badly damaged during the earthquake.
TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University will host a special reception in honor of of Oklahoma Gov. Brad Henry proclaiming Tuesday, June 17 as Dr. Lallie Scott Day from 2-4 p.m. at the NSU Jazz Lab, 315 North Muskogee Avenue.
Scott, a professor of geography, is being recognized for her recent work in a faculty exchange program at the Southwest University of Science and Technology in Mianyang China. Scott was teaching at SWUST when a 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck the country on May 12, resulting in an estimated death toll of almost 70,000.
Scott will give a presentation on her experiences in China, A Geographers Perspective on the China Earthquake, and a proclamation from Henry will be read. The event is open to the public.
