NSU Community Mourns Passing of Charles Agee

TAHLEQUAH A memorial Service for Charles Agee, assistant director of Student Financial Services, who passed away Thursday, August 21 after a courageous battle with cancer, will be held Wednesday, August 27 at 2 p.m. in the Shawnee Street Theatre.

Affectionately known at the long haired dude in Student Financial Services, Charlie has represented NSU with dignity and pride for the past 12 years. He served the past four years as assistant director of the financial aid office, where he loved helping students find ways to finance their college education.

Charlie has demonstrated a sense of caring and desire to share, motivating countless students since beginning as a Pell Grant reporter at Northeastern in 1996, said NSU President Dr. Don Betz. His humor, personal warmth and caring nature for those with whom he worked are known throughout the university and Oklahoma. He will be greatly missed by the many whose lives he touched.

Charlie leaves behind his wife, Donna, coordinator of Student Disability Services in the NSU Office of Student Affairs, his mother, Maxine Agee, of Stillwater, a sister, Barbara Kulak, of Stillwater, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Charlie was born in Modesto, California on March 24, 1954 to Samuel George and Maxine (Vanderpool) Agee. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Theatre from Oklahoma State University. On August 18, 1980, he married the love of his life, Donna Marie Moon in Park Hill.

Charlie was a member of the Association of Financial Aid Administrators at the state, regional and national levels. He was also a member of the Actors Equity Guild.

When he wasn't working, Charlie utilized his time and skills in the theater and loved action. He also enjoyed doing freelance video production and listening to a variety of music, especially the Beatles. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.
