Street Closing Friday for Downtown Country Tribute

TAHLEQUAH - The section of Grand Avenue between Goingsnake and the University Center on the campus of Northeastern State University will close at 3 p.m. on Friday to prepare for a special Centennial Countdown tribute to Carrie Underwood, featuring NSU Downtown Country.

Downtown Country will perform at 6 p.m. on Beta Field, followed by a special presentation to Underwood by Dr. Don Betz, NSU president. Underwood, a 2006 NSU graduate, spent two summers performing with Downtown Country before being named the 2005 American Idol.

Shuttle service from Doc Wadley Stadium to Beta Field starts at 5 p.m. The university parking lot located across from the Jack Dobbins Field House will close at 12 p.m., and signs will direct visitors to handicap and other event parking areas.
