Abercrombie Named Director of Human Resources at NSU February 17Barbara Abercrombie was recently promoted to director of Human Resources at Northeastern State University. Abercrombie joined NSU in March 2004 as the assistant director of Human Resources.
-A dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Northeastern and Tahlequah communities, Barbara Abercrombie was a natural choice for the human resources director position,- said NSU President Dr. Larry Williams. -Her passion for working and helping others achieve their goals and objectives rings true in all she does.-
A 1993 graduate of Northeastern State University, Abercrombie holds a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a second major in Psychology. She also has completed graduate coursework at the University of Oklahoma. Before joining NSU, Abercrombie served as a regional director in health-care financial services, as well as a director for both the Tahlequah Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Association.
As the NSU director of Human Resources, Abercrombie oversees all aspects of employee relations. The Office of Human Resources maintains all faculty and staff benefits, retirement, policies and procedures, and training for all employees as well as working hand-in-hand with the payroll department.

Future plans for Abercrombie include implementing a training program for new supervisors, as well as hands-on programs to build communication and team building skills. She is also taking steps toward improved employee recruitment and retention.
