SOEA NSU Chapter Hosts Conference

Tahlequah High School teacher Kim Meigs makes a presentation at the SOEA meeting held last week in Tahlequah.

TAHLEQUAH The Northeastern State University chapter of the Student Oklahoma Education Association hosted Motivating Educators: Voices of Change! on Friday, Oct. 24 at the Indian Capital Technology Center in Tahlequah.

The conference, geared towards future educators and their professional growth, brought nearly 150 education students from across the state to Tahlequah to hear from professional currently working in education. These professionals included Tahlequah High School Language Arts Teacher Kimberly Meigs, Oklahoma Education Association Teaching and Learning Specialist Margaret Bujold, Great Expectations Program Coordinator Shawn Coffman and OEA Teaching and Learning Specialist Adria Smith.

SOEA is a pre-professional organization of undergraduate and graduate students currently preparing for careers in education. Members are affiliated with the Oklahoma Education Association and the National Education Association.
