NSU Library Hosts Reception For Student Author

TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University will host a special reception honoring the release of an honor students first book on Monday, Nov. 3 at 3:30 p.m. on the second floor of the John Vaughan Library.

Melissa Miller, a Broken Arrow sophomore in the NSU Honors Program, is celebrating the release of her first book, Zion, from Lulu Press. The 212-page novel follows fictional journalist Steve Hessler, who knows nothing about horses or horse racing, but has been assigned to write a story on a small-town track. Steve arrives at Zion, a near-forgotten racetrack in rural Oklahoma, and walks into a world of dreams and nightmares where nothing is as it seems and the universe follows its own rules.

Miller also formed The Society of Underground Bookworms at NSU in the fall of 2007 as an organization dedicated to reading and discussing literature with fellow students.

Miller, the daughter of Loni and Joni Miller, graduated from Broken Arrow High School in 2007. Copies of Zion will be available for purchase at the event.
