Learn About Different Cultures During Geography Awareness Week At NSU

TAHLEQUAH In celebration of Geography Awareness Week on Nov. 16-22, Northeastern State University will host several presentations highlights different cultures from around the world.

Kicking off the week, NSU will host Dr. Richard Marston, head of Geography at Kansas State University and a distinguished professor, as he presents Land, Life, and Environmental Change in the Himalayas on Monday, Nov. 16 at 3:30 p.m. in the NET Building Auditorium.

On Tuesday, Nov. 18, Dr. Lallie Scott will share her experiences from China in The May 12th Earthquake, Sichuan, China. The presentation will take place at 3 p.m. in the NET Auditorium.

Dr. Susan Frusher, professor of Education, and Dr. Renée Cambiano, assistant professor of Education, present Thailand Land of Smiles: Ancient Traditions, Modern Society on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 3:30 p.m. in Seminary Hall, Room 210. At 7 p.m. in the NET Auditorium, Dr. Debbie Landry, chair of the College of Education Department of Curriculum and Instruction, will present Beat the Drum, a critically acclaimed film about an orphan in South Africa.

Wrapping up the week, Dr. Kay Grant, dean of the NSU College of Education, will present Budapest to Bucharest: A Look Into Life Along the Danube on Thursday, Nov. 20 at 3 p.m. in the NET Building, Room 614.
