Leadership Tahlequah Class XII hosted a Bean Dinner on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008 at the Tahlequah Community Center to raise additional funds for the scholarship program established by the Leadership Tahlequah Class XI. The NSU scholarship benefits first-generation college students from the Tahlequah community.

As a graduate of NSU, I feel it is my duty to be a part of a group that plans to offer financial help to a college student who needs it, said Jill Fisher, Leadership Tahlequah Class XII member. If it weren't for my parents, PELL, and Regents Scholarships, I would not be where I am today.

Leadership Tahlequah Class XII has planned additional fundraising events in the Tahlequah community. The class is currently scheduled to sell Ferns at the Red Fern Festival in the spring, as well as sell breakfast items during the festival. Proceeds from these events will be donated back to the Tahlequah community through non-profit organizations such as the Food Pantry.
