NSU Jazz Ensemble promises an entertaining evening of music
(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- The Northeastern State University Jazz Ensemble will host its inaugural concert for the new school year onMonday, Sept. 21, at the Jazz Lab in Tahlequah.
The Welcome to NSU Concert will be directed by Dr. Clark Gibson, the new director of jazz studies at NSU.
It will be the first concert Gibson oversees and he promises the performances will be enjoyable for attendees of all ages.
He said members of the ensemble will be featured throughout the evening, as well as a host of eager freshmen.
I feel honored to be here with the talented students we have in the NSU jazz studies department, and of course, I am excited for the concert too, Gibson said.
The music will consist of pieces by Count Basie, Thad Jones and some modern jazz writers such as James Knapp and Vern Seilert.
The hour-long show begins at 7 p.m., costs $5, and will take place at 315 N. Muskogee Ave. Tahlequah, OK 74464.
