Ghosts and Ghouls concert at NSU will thrill, raise scholarship funds - Oct. 26
Tahlequah, Okla)-- Halloween is quickly approaching, and Northeastern State Universitys Music Department is taking the opportunity to combine music and costumes, with scholarship fundraising.
The public is invited to attend the Gala of Ghosts and Ghouls concert, presented by the NSUs Music Department on Oct. 26 at the Center for Performing Arts on the NSU-Tahlequah Campus.
In its third year running, the concert will feature NSU music professors and students performing on stage, while wearing various costumes in honor of Halloween. Dr. Anne Watson, associate clarinet professor, said the concert is suitable for all ages and will not be like any other you have attended before. This is not a formal concert at all. It's a fun concert where all performers dress up and the audience is encouraged to as well.
An attendee with the best costume will be selected during the night and win a special prize from the music department. Audience members will also be able to vote for their favorite performer costume by making a donation. Whoever has the most donations by the end of the night wins the best costume prize.
All proceeds from both ticket sales and the silent auction will directly benefit the NSU Music Scholarship Fund.
Watson is certain it will be a night to remember, as students and professors alike embrace the spirit of Halloween. The most feedback we hear is that audience members enjoy seeing the music faculty be silly and not so serious, Watson said, adding that this year's student scholarship recipients will be performing alongside music faculty members. We want to showcase the students especially to show audience members specifically where their money is going.
There will be something for everyone with music covering a number of genres. We'll have everything from classical to rock and all kinds in between.
The event takes place on Monday, Oct. 26, 2015 at 7 p.m. The ticket entitles you to attend the concert, access to the silent auction, as well as indulge in the desserts provided.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 with student ID, group discounts are available, and can be purchased at the door.
