Matsuri Japan Festival 2009 Set For April 10

TAHLEQUAH The Northeastern State University Japanese student group JNSU will hold the Matsuri Festival, celebrating traditional Japanese food and culture, on Friday, April 10 from 3-6 p.m. in University Center Sen. Herb Rozell Ballroom.

The event is open to the public, but tickets for food are $1 at each booth. A variety of Japanese dishes will be available, as well as opportunities to learn Japanese calligraphy, origami, the traditional art of paper folding, and how to make a Japanese rice ball.

Along with the food and origami, festival participants will be able to try on a kimono and watch various performances. Matsuri Japan Festival T-shirt will be on sale for $15 to raise funds for JNSU.
