NSU Presents Songs of the Spirit with Joanne Shenandoah
TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University and the Sequoyah Institute will host Songs of the Spirit with Joanne Shenandoah on Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tahlequah High School Performing Arts Center, 591 Pendleton St.
Joanne Shenandoah has fulfilled the promise of her Native American name, Tekaliwah-kwa, (She Sings) as a Wolf Clan member of the Iroquois Confederacy - Oneida Nation by winning a Grammy Award and 11 Native American Music Awards. She has collaborated and performed with Bruce Cockburn, Neil Young, Brian Kirkpatrick, Willie Nelson, Rita Coolidge and scores of others across the nation and around the world.
Part of the 23rd Annual Galaxy of Stars Series, Songs of the Spirit is funded by Mid-America Arts Alliance, Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
