Chioldi Joins Distinguished Author List For Textbook

Keyboard Musicianship piano for adults, book one

TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University Associate Professor of Music Dr. Ronald Chioldi recently co-authored the textbook Keyboard Musicianship: Piano for Adults, Book 1, 9th edition. Chioldi is the newest addition to the books co-author list, which was first published in 1969.

Chioldi joins a distinguished group of authors that includes professors from the Eastman Conservatory of Music, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Georgia State University.

The text, used in colleges and universities throughout the Unites and Canada, was one of the earliest group piano textbooks written and remains one of the mostly widely-used in the country today.

James Lyke, the lead author of the textbook, and Professor Emeritus from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is a seminal figure in the world of piano pedagogy and group piano teaching. He has trained many of the college professors now teaching group piano classrooms across the U.S.

A student of the books first author, James Lyke, at the University of Illinois, Chioldi was chosen to help with the new edition and future editions because of his experience in the field of group piano teaching, and his potential to become a leader in the field, Lyke said.

I consider it an honor to be asked to contribute to such an important textbook, said Chioldi. This is one of the top textbooks for piano players in the country.
