No Tuition Increases for Northeastern State

President Betz will not seek to raise tuition, mandatory fees for fall.

TAHLEQUAHContinuing access to higher education opportunities remains top priority for Northeastern State University. Therefore, Northeastern State officials have announced they will not seek 2009-2010 increases from the Board of Regents of the Regional University System of Oklahoma when they meet later this month.

It has been a challenging time for our country, our state, and particularly the northeastern region of Oklahoma, noted NSU President Don Betz. We fully understand the impact of the global economic downturn on the families of the students we serve and are dedicated to being an institution that promotes access to higher education. We believe holding tuition and mandatory costs at their current levels for the coming year will encourage students to pursue their university degrees.

We sincerely appreciate the diligent efforts of Gov. Brad Henry, our representatives in the State Legislature, and Chancellor Glen Johnson in assisting us to meet our mandatory cost increases for 2009-2010.

Northeastern officials report that cost-cutting measures made in operations will save the university more than $500,000 in 2009 alone. NSU remains one of Oklahomas most affordable four-year higher education institutions. Resident undergraduate tuition and fees for a NSU student is $138.50 per credit hour.
