Sequoyah Institute Performing Arts Series adds Jimmy Webb to line-up – Nov. 9

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Songwriter and Oklahoma native Jimmy Webb will perform for the 30th annual Performing Arts Series on Nov. 9 at a concert called Jimmy Webb: the Glen Campbell Years.

Webb has had chart-topping hits in a unique range of genres over the last 50 years, from country to pop to disco, with songs including Worst That Could Happen, The Highway Man, Up, Up and Away and MacArthur Park. But perhaps the most enduring partnership out of all those memorable songs is his musical brotherhood with Campbell.

Most of us are familiar with at least some of Glen Campbell songs and in this performance we will hear these famous songs directly from the songwriter, Jimmy Webb. I think people will be surprised by how many of Webb's songs they know, Cindy Chanslor, coordinator of the Sequoyah Institute, said.

Webb highlights a portion of the more than 100 recordings from the Webb/Campbell songbook including Honey Come Back, By the time I Get to Phoenix, Wichita Lineman, Galveston and more from decades of shared musical memories.

Webbs moving and often humorous account through performance and anecdotes punctuated with photos, video and audio clips is a very personal music event that celebrates the legacy he created with his friend Campbell.

The Sequoyah Institute's mission is to bring quality arts to Northeast Oklahoma and so we are excited to bring Jimmy Webb, a very talented Oklahoma native. Anytime we can combine quality performance with an Oklahoma artist we think the audience will really enjoy it, Chanslor said.
