NSU’s Good Yule returns Dec. 1
(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- The Northeastern State University Department of Music and Choral Area will host its third annual Good Yule performance on the Tahlequah campus at7 p.m. on Dec. 1.
This holiday choral concert will feature the University/Community Chorus, the University Singers and invited high school singers from around the state who successfully passed the first round of All-State Choir auditions.
It is a wonderful way to start the season, Dr. Jeffery Wall, director of Choral Activities said.
He said the previous concerts were successful, as audience members and performers enjoy welcoming the spirit of Christmas and the holiday season.
The University/Community Chorus will perform one of Handels Coronation Anthems titled The King Shall Rejoice and a medley of popular holiday carols in a work called Praeludium Noel by Randol Alan Bass.
In what has become a holiday tradition, the Good Yule choral concert will immediately follow the Lights on Seminary Hall event.
Lights on Seminary hall begins at6 p.m. and then attendees can walk over to the Center for Performing Arts for festive, holiday music.
A silent auction benefitting music student travel and a reception after the concert will also be a part of the evening.
Typically, donated items for the auction include Tulsa production concert tickets, spa and hotel packages, restaurant gift certificates, art work and gift items from local businesses.
The student travel scholarships will benefit from the auction, as they prepare to embark on a Chicago tour to perform in Orchestra Hall with professional orchestras, soloists, a mass choir and a guest conductor.
The silent auction also allows for a perfect opportunity to begin holiday gift shopping while supporting a worthy cause, Wall said.
Tickets are $8 general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
