New music makes debut with NSU Wind Ensemble

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- The Northeastern State Wind Ensemble has a special line-up planned for its second concert of the season onNov. 19, with six never-before-heard pieces premiering at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts.

This concert, conducted by NSUs Norman Wika, will feature music by composer Keane Southard, who will also join the ensemble for the world premiere of his Concertino for Piano and Wind Ensemble.

This performance will also feature the world premiere of No Interior do Rio de Janeiro, which was also transcribed for this ensemble.

Overall, the concert will include world premieres of three original works and four arrangements of Southards.

It's an exciting thing to bring a piece of music to life for the first time. It's a challenge for the musicians and a special opportunity for the audience to share in a new musical experience," Wika said.
