NSU Debate Team excels at recent tournament
The Northeastern State University Speech and Debate team won big again at the three-day swing tournament in Tulsa on Nov. 6, 7, and 8.
Fifteen Schools from Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma and Arkansas were all in attendance as the tournament began earlyFridaymorning with debate rounds. Gemini Creason reached to the quarterfinals and was awarded top speaker in International Public Debate Association. Anthony Woodall broke into the semi-finals and placed second speaker in IPDA.
Creason continued on her winning streak and was awarded sixth place in Impromptu, first in After Dinner Speaking and achieved a Top Competitor award. Woodall also won third in Poetry and second in After Dinner Speaking.
Connor White took fifth place for Prose. The team over all won third place out of all the other schools in attendance.
Tulsa Community College hosted the first portion of the tournamenton FridayandSaturdaywhen NSUs team competed.On Sundayit was NSUs turn to host the tournament at the TCC Northeast campus.
The next tournament will be another three-day event at Cameron University from Dec. 4-6. It will be the last tournament for this semester for the team and the NSU speakers are looking forward to another competitive weekend.
