NSU Lights On ceremony returns Dec. 1
(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Join Northeastern State Universitys Lights On at Seminary Hall,Dec. 1 at 5:30 p.m. on the Tahlequah campus. The popular event brings the NSU and Tahlequah communities together on campus to jumpstart the festive season. This year marks the 23rdcelebration of Lights On as the university officiallydecorates and lightsup historic Seminary Hall for the holiday season.
The event includes a pre-show of music provided by the NSU Brass Quintet, with other performers including the NSU University and Community chorus, the River City Players, Impressions Dance Company and Melissa Weeks Dance Studio, the Academy of Performing Arts, the Tahlequah High School Show Choir and TPS Elementary School Choirs.
Tahlequah Mayor Jason Nichols and NSU's First Lady Penny Turner will serve as hosts for the event. Special guests will also include Miss NSU 2016, President Steve Turner, Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus and the elves.
Following the performances and thelighting, children will be able to visit Santa Claus inside Seminary Hall and receive a commemorative ornament and special stocking stuffer from Saint Nick himself.
Lights On is a celebration open to students and the community at no cost.
Lights On is a great opportunity to bring the entire community together. We have had a great turn out every year, and we hope to continue that tradition this year as well, Robyn Pursley, one of the events organizers, said.
Following Lights On, families can also head over to NSU Center for the Performing Arts, as the Department of Music and Choral Area hosts its Good Yule concert beginning at7 p.m.
Tickets are $8 general admission, $5 for students and seniors.
