NSU’s Sequoyah Institute presents Melinda Doolittle and her Christmas Tour on Dec. 4

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Ready to get into the Christmas spirit? Join Northeastern State Universitys Sequoyah Institute as it presents a concert by songstress Melinda Doolittle as part of her Christmas Tour this year.

Doolittle will perform at the NSU Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m., singing original songs, as well as a few classics to commemorate the season.

There is no better way to kick off the holiday season than with Melindas Christmas repertoire, Dr. Anita Thompson, executive director of the Sequoyah Institute said.

Doolittle competed in season six of American Idol and placed third overall. Simon Cowell, one of the judges, called her his personal favorite, saying she should have been the winner.

In 2009 Doolittle released her debut album, Coming Back to You and in 2013 she followed it up with Youre the Reason. In between releasing her albums she wrote a book entitled, Beyond me: Finding Your Way to Lifes Next Level. Doolittle is currently a co-host on TV Lines Reality Check.

Thompson is very excited for audiences to hear Doolittle sing live.

I was blown away by her powerhouse vocals when I first saw her on American Idol. Earlier this year I was able to see her perform live at a showcase and I cannot wait for our audience to experience this caliber of an artist.

Before the concert, Doolittle will hold a master class for NSU vocal students, helping them make connections to the lyrics they sing while teaching them to make a connection with the audience.

Tickets can be purchased at the Woods House at 529 Seminary Ave. in Tahlequah Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or an hour before the show at the performance box office in the NSU Center for Performing Arts or online at www.nsuok.edu/si.
