(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- The Learning Resources Network (LERN), the worlds largest lifelong learning association, recently honored Northeastern State Universitys Department of Continuing Education for excellence in the Best Programming category, at the 2015 LERN Annual Conference in New Orleans.
The winning entry was included in a showcase of internationally exemplary programs, which was awarded on Dec. 4. NSUs Department of Continuing Education entry was selected from more than 100 nominations from four countries.

NSUsHealthcare Administration Certificate: Retooling for the 21st Century Health Delivery Systemsjumped into online programming, targeting 25,000 healthcare administrators in Nigeria and Kenya. The online certificate program consists of four, eight-week classes, complete with content that is relevant to African healthcare administrators.
What won the award was the identification of the need for an audience half a world away and then reaching this new market and demand, Coates said. The lesson: we all have resources and teachers that someone, somewhere, would want to experience with an online certificate.
The primary gauge judges used was whether the program was at the leading edge of the field of lifelong learning, as evidenced by innovation and documented success of its nomination.
In addition, judges also applied the following criteria: originality, appropriateness as a model for other programs, replicability and measurable outcomes.
Continuing Education presents other programs such as summer camps, ACT prep, regional professional development along with theopening of Ropes Course and other activities at Camp RiverHawks at Lake Tenkiller.
