NSU’s Sequoyah Institute presents the Byron Berline Band, Feb. 4.

(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Get ready for an exciting evening of traditional bluegrass and western swing music as the Byron Berline Band performs at Northeastern State Universitys Performing Arts Center on Feb. 4, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.

The Byron Berline Band formed in 1996 and has since toured the world, playing at Bluegrass and Western heritage festivals in Europe, China, Japan, Australia, Northern Africa and the South Pacific. Byron Berline and his band members, John Hickman, Jim Fish, Richard Sharp, Greg Burgess and Steve Short, provide an exciting evening of toe-tapping fun.

Oklahoma native Berline, a three-time National Fiddle Champion, was inducted into Oklahomas Musicians Hall of Fame and named Oklahomas Ambassador of Goodwill. His skill, versatility and artistry continue to be recognized by his peers, the press and audiences worldwide.

Berlines professional career includes performances and recordings with notable musicians including The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Elton John, Alabama, Willie Nelson and more. Berline is also the creator of the International Bluegrass Festival and owner of the Double Stop Fiddle Shop in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Before their evening performance, the Band will participate in a Learning Live! performance as part of the Educational Outreach for area schools at 1 p.m. at the NSU CPA.

Tickets for the evening performance can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m at the Sequoyah Institute Box Office at 529 Seminary Ave. in Tahlequah or by phone 918.458.2075.
