Education Building Receives Renovations, New Name

By NSU Staff Writer Laura Butler

Renovations on the Education Building at the Tahlequah campus are complete in time for the fall semester.

The building received a new roof and windows, an upgraded air conditioning system, restrooms compliant with the Americans With Disabilities Act, an elevator, new paint and carpet and sealed brick.

Physical Plant director Joe Spence said it was time for an update.

All that was done was really overdue in the 80-year-old building, Spence said. We are very happy with the results.

Dr. Kay Grant, dean of the College of Education, said she is thrilled to be back in the building for fall classes.

We moved back before last spring but we are finally starting to feel settled in, she said.
Dr. Grant said the faculty and staff are still waiting for new office furniture but are pleased with the renovations, especially the return of the third floor.

It restores some of the buildings architectural integrity that was lost with the former removal of the third floor, she said. While we did not gain any classroom space at this point, the potential is there for expansion once funds are available to finish out the third floor.

The official re-dedication of the building as Bagley Hall is Oct. 10 at 1 p.m. The ceremony is in conjunction with a reunion of former students who attended class in the building when it was home to Bagley High School.
