Northeastern State Homecoming 2009

Northeastern State University highlights the dawn of a new 100 years during 2009 Homecoming, "Growing Into Our Second Century," with festivities the week of Oct. 19-24.

The week begins with "Paint the Town Green" at Norris Park and concludes with NSU's football game at 3 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma State at Doc Wadley Stadium, and "Come Home to the Dome" post-game at the Indoor Practice Facility.

Also, NSU will present its annual awards to distinguished alumni. Bob Berry and Ron Evans will each be honored as a Distinguished Alumnus. Jenyfer Glisson will be recognized as Distinguished Young Alumnus and Petty Price will receive the President's Award for Community Service.

Monday October 19, 2009

Paint the Town Green, Muskogee Ave. - must be finished by Monday at 3 p.m.
NSU student organizations compete for best window painting depicting school spirit and highlighting the 2009 Homecoming theme. Window paintings will be displayed throughout the week and weekend.

Street Party, 6 8 p.m., on Muskogee Ave. between Goingsnake and Morgan
NSU students, faculty, and staff and Tahlequah community kick-off 2009 Homecoming Week with a festival. Music, entertainment, food vendors, children games, and the annual Northeastern Student Government Association Chili Cook-off will make-up the evening festivities.

NAB Open Mic Night, 7 p.m., NSU Jazz Lab
NSU student talent is showcased at NAB Open Mic Night. Enjoy some of the best and brightest talent at NSU this evening.

NSU Faculty and Staff Alumni Reception, 5 p.m., Alumni Center
NSU faculty and staff who are institutional alumni are invited to a special Homecoming reception in their honor

Candidate Campaigning/Elections, 8 a.m. 4 p.m., UC Lobby and outside entrance
Homecoming Queen and King candidates campaign to be crowned as Homecoming royalty.

NAB Circle Drive Concert and Pre-Float Float Party, 11 a.m. -1 p.m., UC Circle Drive
Homecoming celebration is in the air during this lunch time event. Live music and ice cream floats in the circle drive for all to enjoy!

Shack-a-thon, 8 p.m. - 12 a.m., Gazebo
NSU students will bring awareness to homelessness and raise money for Habitat for Humanity through this three day event. In alignment with NSUs Homecoming theme, Shack-a-thon brings student groups together working for a common cause.

Alumni Golf Tournament, 9 a.m. 2 p.m., Cherry Springs
Alumni and friends are invited to play in NSUs Annual Alumni Golf Tournament. No need to be an expert golfer for this event! This scramble is a fun fundraising event for the NSU Foundation. Homecoming is not Homecoming without the traditional bonfire and pep rally. Music, hotdogs, and a good old school spirit build up for the big game! Also includes a Hawk Dog Eating Contest

Nifty Fifty Reunion, 6 p.m., Alumni Center
Classmates from the 1950's and early 60's gather to celebrate and reminisce on great memories and experiences from their undergraduate days.

Friday Night Alumni Main Event, 9 p.m. 2 a.m., Town Branch Restaurant
NSU Alumni are invited to reconnect to classmates, celebrate, and reminisce on college day experiences.
