Jazz artist Passley to perform at NSU

(TAHLEQUAH) Oscar Passley, classical and jazz artist and trumpet teacher at Eastfield College in Dallas is a guest artist at Northeastern State University on Sept. 28. He will present a 6 p.m. master class and 7:30 p.m. recital at the Jazz Lab. Both events are free and open to the public.

NSU faculty Dr. Tommy Poole and Dr. Jason Dovel and several NSU students will join Passley on stage as he presents a diverse program with classical and jazz selections.

A native of Baltimore, Mr. Passley graduated from Morgan State University with a B.A. in music, where he studied trumpet with Melvin Miles. He earned master's degrees in trumpet performance (M.M.) and music education (M.M.E.) in 2004-2005 at the University of North Texas, studying classical trumpet with John Holt and is currently finishing a D.M.A. in trumpet performance.

Passley will be accompanied by new NSU jazz lab manager Sarah Bruguiere.
