NSU hosts Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival, Oct. 26

The Sequoyah Institute at Northeastern State University presents the second performance of the 24th annual Galaxy of Stars Series.

The Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival performs Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tahlequah High School Performing Arts Center.

This concert celebrates Russia's rich musical heritage. The Massenkoff Russian Folk Festival stars world-renowned singer Nikolai Massenkoff and a company of Russian folk dancers and a balalaika ensemble of virtuoso musicians.

"The audience can expect a spirited peformance," said Roxann James of the Sequoyah Institute. "Massenkoff and the company put everything into their singing and dancing. They are very energetic."

This company has performed in more than 38 states and seven countries to widespread acclaim. Massenkoff has shared the stage with Liberace, Dinah Shore, Jerry Lewis, Glen Campbell, Ray Charles, Bob Hope, Brooke Shields and Julio Iglesias.

The Galaxy of Stars Series is made possible through the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the Mid-America Arts Alliance and the Oklahoma Arts Council.
