NSU Homecoming Alumni Events on Tap for Oct. 23

NSU Staff Writer Laura Butler

There will be no shortage of fun Friday events for alumni who are planning to come home during NSUs Homecoming Celebration, "Growing Into Our Second Century" which runs now through Saturday, Oct. 24.

Golf Tournament. Friday kicks off with the 12th annual Alumni Golf Tournament hosted at the Cherry Springs Golf Course in Tahlequah. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. and the tournament begins at 9:00 a.m.

A fun event for golfers and non-golfers of all skill levels, the tournament features nine holes of traditional golf and nine holes of fun and games challenges. The popular event gives alumni and friends of the university another opportunity to participate in homecoming while having fun and meeting up with old and new friends. It also provides important fundraising support to the NSU Foundation.

For more information on the Alumni Golf Tournament, contact Alumni Relations at 918-444-4200.

Champagne Bingo. First Lady Susanne Betz will host the fourth annual Champagne Bingo event in the backyard of the Presidents home, located at 526 Seminary Avenue in Tahlequah.

Bingo begins at 11:00 a.m. and features an afternoon of fun with the opportunity to win one of many fabulous prizes. Tickets are $25 each and include 10 games of bingo, lunch and beverages. To order, call 918-459-2142.

Nifty Fifty Reunion. The Nifty Fifty Reunion draws classmates from the 1950s and 60s together to celebrate and reminisce. The reunion begins at 5:00 p.m. and tickets are $15. Reserve a place by calling Ron Evans at 918-917-7810.

Main Event. The day concludes with the Friday Night Main Event which runs from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at Town Branch restaurant located at 505 N Muskogee Ave in Tahlequah. This event is open to all NSU alumni and there is no cover charge.

The main event tradition began five years ago and this year features the band South 40, whose members include NSU alumni and supporters. The band will play on the outside stage. Seating and dancing area is available both inside and outside the establishment.
