Northeastern State University will soon celebrate another year and honor distinguished alumni at its annual Emerald Ball. The Dec. 12th event is at 6:30 p.m. in the University Center Senator Rozell Ballroom. The distinguished alumni who were introduced during Homecoming Week will be officially honored. The ball also hosts community members, faculty, staff and alumni for an evening of dancing, fine food, friends and fundraising. The Emerald Ball is a major university event that recognizes alumni and friends and captures the essence of Northeastern and what has happened in the past year, said John Gyllin, Executive Director of the NSU Foundation.
Alumni to be honored at the ball are Distinguished Alumni Ron Evans and Bob Berry, Outstanding Young Alumnus Jenyfer Glisson and the Presidents Award for Community Service recipient Betty Price.
I attended last year's ball and I was thrilled to see a standing ovation for Wilma Mankiller for her lifetime of work with the Cherokee people," said Susanne Betz co-coordinator of the event and wife of NSU President Don Betz. "It was exciting and so well-deserved.
In addition to serving as a venue for honoring alumni, the Emerald Ball also provides a fundraising opportunity. Alumni can donate to support student scholarships at Northeastern.
Our hope is that everyone comes out to enjoy an evening of food, drink, music and dancing, all while supporting NSU, Gyllin said. "It is a celebration of Northeasterna black-tie event where everyone needs to beand it is the Foundation's biggest event of the year. This event helps support scholarships and is a great way to stay connected with Northeastern."
Individual tickets are $75 and 10-seat corporate tables may be purchased for $1,000. Parties interested in attending the Emerald Ball can contact the NSU Alumni Center at 918-444-4200.
