Northeastern State's Fall 2009 Commencement is Dec. 19

TAHLEQUAH -- Fall commencement for Northeastern State University will be held in three ceremonies at Jack Dobbins Field House on Saturday, Dec. 19.

The College of Education ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. The College of Business and Technology and the College of Science and Health Professions combine to announce their candidates at 11:30 a.m. The College of Liberal Arts commencement begins at 2:30 p.m.

Candidates for graduation at the close of the fall semester number 755. Approximately 530 are expected to participate in commencement exercises.

Glenn Coffee, NSU alumnus and president pro tempore of the Oklahoma Senate, will be the commencement speaker at the second ceremony, at 11:30 a.m. Coffee graduated from NSU in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in political science. He also earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oklahoma in 1992. He was elected to the State Senate in 1998, and named president pro tempore for 2009-10. In 2003, the NSU Alumni Association named Coffee a Citation of Merit recipient.

Family and friends who wish to attend a commencement ceremony must have a ticket to enter the field house. A limited number of tickets are available to each candidate.

In the event of an overflow audience, family and friends may also watch the event in the NET Auditorium, across from the field house.
