NSU River City Players to hold 2016 Auditions – Feb. 6
(Tahlequah, Okla.)-- Northeastern State Universitys River City Players are looking for talented performers to participate in their summer series. Auditions take placeFeb. 6 at 2 p.m. at the NSU Center for Performing Arts, 605 N. Grand Ave., Tahlequah.
River City Players is a musical production showcasing popular music ranging from 50s and 60s to country to modern popular. Since 1983, the River City Players have been entertaining audiences, performing for approximately 5,000 audience members each year from all over the country.
Although the series is produced by the NSU College of Liberal Arts, performers do not have to be NSU students, but must be at least 18 years old. NSU students do not have to be involved in performing arts programs or activities to audition. All that is required is the ability to sing and dance well.
We are looking for high caliber singers and dancers, explains Dr. Anita Thompson, executive director of the Sequoyah Institute. We set the bar pretty high regarding the quality of our performances and we have no intention of lowering that standard any time soon. Our audiences have come to expect that quality and we certainly plan to deliver.
Those auditioning should prepare one country song and one pop/rock song, preferably from the 80s. There will be no piano available, so CD accompaniment will need to be provided by the person auditioning. Musical theatre pieces are not acceptable for the audition. Those auditioning will be required to attend a dance audition as well.
Rehearsal for the shows beginsMay 11and opening night isJune 16.
RCP is also hiring technicians for the summer series. Stage managers, light and sound board operators and spotlight operators are all needed. Applicants for these positions should fill out an application at www.nsutc.com. Applications will be accepted through12 p.m.March 5.
