Delta Mu Inducts New Members

TAHLEQUAH - Northeastern State Universitys Delta Mu Delta chapter recently accepted 51 new junior, senior, and graduate members at a ceremony held on the NSU campus.

The purposes of Delta Mu Delta are to promote higher scholarship in training for business and to recognize and reward scholastic achievement in business subjects.

Delta Mu Delta was founded by five professors in the School of Commerce, Finance and Accountants in New York University in 1913. Delta Mu Delta was incorporated 1952. In 1963, it was admitted to membership in the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS), an organization of 65 member national honor societies whose objective is to maintain high standards for the recognition and promotion of academic excellence in higher education.

In 1992, the Society established an affiliation with the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Delta Mu Delta is the National Honor Society in Business Administration for business programs accredited by the ACBSP at the baccalaureate/graduate level.

Membership in Delta Mu Delta is by invitation only, and the academic ranking of those being considered must place them in the upper 20 percent of the junior, senior, or graduate classes. While almost 300,000 students receive degrees in business each year, only about 5,000 students are elected to membership in Delta Mu Delta.
