NSU Inducts Students into Hall of Fame

TAHLEQUAH - On Friday, April 26, Northeastern State University inducted four students, the 2001-2002 Mens Basketball Team, and the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity into the NSU Hall of Fame.

The new 2001-2002 Hall of Fame inductees were chosen from nominations submitted be University faculty and staff members. All nominees were required to be graduating seniors in good standing with the University. Nominees were also screened for achievements bringing state, regional or national recognition to the individual, group or University. Inductions can also be based upon outstanding contributions made to university life.

I am very proud of all of our NSU Hall of Fame inductees this year, said Dr. Larry Williams, NSU president. They have all exhibited great drive and dedication to NSU while earning their degrees. I know that bright futures await each and every one of them, and we are certainly glad to induct them into NSU history.
The 2002 inductees include:

Daniel R. Howard, graduating with a degree in Secondary Science Education. Daniel is the husband of Tammie Howard, father of Linsea and Emma, and son of Euel & Wanda Howard of Tulsare, CA. He has been involved in Indian University Scholars Honor Society, American Indian Science & Engineering Society, Tri Beta National Biological Honor Society, an Alpha Chi and Rho Theta Sigma Honor Societies. He is a research assistant for the NSU Department of Biological Sciences and a volunteer for the Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission and the Oklahoma Nature Conservancy. Daniel is also a volunteer math and science tutor for the Center for Tribal Studies.

Zeddie Cantrell, Jr., majoring in Biology/Pre Optometry, is the son of Zeddie and Terri Cantrell of Bristow. Zeddie was involved in the Lamda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Interfraternity Council, Order of Omega Honor Society, Northeastern Student Government Association, the Northeastern Activities Board, Baptist Collegiate Ministries, and the Presidents Leadership Class. He was a George Nigh Institute Ambassador, a Redmen Ambassador, Campus Connections advisor, Rookie Bridge Camp volunteer, and a presidential appointment to the NCA Accreditation Committee. He was selected as Mr. Greek 2000 and 2002 and the Greek Male Freshmen of the Year 1998-99. He was the keynote speaker for Freshman Convocation 2001-02. Zeddie was featured three years in the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) Programming Magazine.

Adam J. Foreman, graduating with a degree in Mass Communications, is the son of Steven and Brenda Foreman of Tulsa. He was involved in the Society for Collegiate Journalists, Northeastern Student Government Association, and Alpha Chi National Honor Society. He was the editor in chief of the Northeastern from 1999-present, layout editor from 1998-present, chairman of the board, American Cancer Society Relay for Life, finalist for Homecoming King, and a member of the Northeastern Country Music Association. Under his supervision, the Northeastern, received eighteen first-place state awards from the Oklahoma Intercollegiate Press Association.

Rachel Anderson, a Mass Communications major, is the daughter of Dr. Ron and Ruth Anderson of Enid. She was involved in the Northeastern Student Government Association, Society for Collegiate Journalists, and a member of the Sequoyah Institute Board of Directors. She was the editor in chief of the Tsa La Gi online magazine and copy editor, assistant photographer, and writer for the Northeastern. Rachel was awarded the 21st Medal of Merit from the Society for Collegiate Journalists and Oklahoma Interscholastic Press Association Awards. She was a presenter at the Undergraduate Research Conference, Spring 2002, in Milwaukee, WI.

The 2001-02 Mens Basketball Team under Head Coach Larry Gipson and Assistant Coach Scott Reed, consistently ranked in the top two in the nation, and progressed to the NCAA Division II 2nd Round, the NCAA Division II South Central tournament. They were the Lone Star Conference Champs.
