NSU Community Opens Campuses to Katrina Victims
NSU Community Opens Campuses to Katrina VictimsTAHLEQUAH - Though life for those caught in the path of Hurricane Katrina will never be the same, victims of the disaster will not have to wait long to start or resume their educational endeavors thanks to special measures implemented by Northeastern State University. The University is extending enrollment and waiving out-of state tuition for those individuals affected by the recent tragedy. Traditional, short-term, evening and weekend course schedules are available on NSU's Tahlequah, Broken Arrow and Muskogee campuses.
"Our hearts go out to those individuals and families caught in the wake of this tragic storm," said Dr. Larry Williams, NSU president. "No amount of preparation could ready a person for the choices that lie ahead. It is our hope that this small gesture will give those affected the courage they need to continue their education and begin rebuilding their lives."
Northeastern is also extending a special invitation to those college professors who may have been displaced during the disaster. Full-time and temporary positions are available in several NSU departments. Housing and stipends are available on a limited basis.
