Chili Cook-Off, Music, & Activities Highlight Street Party for NSU Homecoming

TAHLEQUAH - Grab the family and join Northeastern State University for Homecoming 2005, "Welcome to Reality." The NSU Homecoming celebration kicks off Thursday, September 22, with a Street Party from Goingsnake to Downing on Muskogee Avenue. The party is even bigger this year as NSU teams up with Tahlequah High School for an all-out Homecoming Street Party.

The popular event features a chili cook-off, music, and activities for the whole family. Chili connoisseurs are invited to enter their chili creations by contacting the NSU Student Government Association at 918-456-5511, ext. 2640. Prizes will be given in several categories for both campus and non-campus divisions. The Street Party runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and includes the traditional NSU Pep Rally at 7:30 p.m. Downtown merchants are offering special discounts and extended hours to Street Party-goers.

Join Northeastern and downtown Tahlequah businesses for Homecoming 2005, "Welcome to Reality," with a host of Homecoming activities including the Rowdy Redmen Golf Event, traditional homecoming football game, Emerald Ball, and more.

Homecoming Honorees. Each year the NSU Alumni Association recognizes a select group of Alumni during the Homecoming weekend celebration. Being honored this year are Larry Adair (Stilwell), Distinguished Alumnus; Dr. John Carletti (Tulsa), Distinguished Alumnus; Susan Illgen (Oklahoma City), Outstanding Young Alumnus; and Roy and Mary Cartwright (Tahlequah), President\'d5s Award for Community Service.
