NSU to Host Teachers Dialog for Support Conference

TAHLEQUAH - Northeastern State University invites area educators to the Teachers Dialog for Support to be held February 11 on the NSU-Muskogee campus. Registration begins at 8 a.m. Themed "Inquiry," the conference will feature break-out sessions including a reading and writing workshop, literature and curriculum integration, and inquiry.

Kathryn Mitchell Pierce will be the keynote speaker for this third-annual event. Pierce is currently a St. Louis-area middle school literacy coach, specializing in writing. A former multiage teacher and university faculty member, her interests include the role of talk in supporting the learning process, the role of literature in the curriculum, and diversity issues. Pierce will focus on inquiry in the classroom using literature as a catalyst for discussion and questions.

Past speakers for this conference include the internationally known Dr. Dorothy Watson (University of Missouri-Columbia) and Dr. Yetta Goodman (University of Arizona).

Northeastern State University, the Early Childhood Program, the Reading Program, Association for Childhood Education International, and the Student Oklahoma Education Association have all collaborated and are proud to bring the state of Oklahoma this dynamic and beneficial conference for the education community.
