Revels Receives Award for Innovative Excellence

The Center for Advancement of Teaching and Learning announced that Northeastern State University assistant professor of biology, Dr. Mia Revels, received an award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching, Learning and Technology.

The award was presented at a special ceremony held at the Twelfth International Conference on College Teaching and Learning in Jacksonville, Florida, on April 19, 2001.

The conference brought together more than 900 faculty from colleges and universities in 20 different countries. A total of 52 colleges and universities nominated faculty to receive awards, representing institutions throughout the world.

Dr. Revels was nominated by the Deans' Council to the NSU Academic Vice President. This award emphasizes the use of innovative strategies, such as interactive and cooperative learning, combines with the use of technology to support higher education learning.

Dr. Revels earned her B.S.W. and M.S.E. from Henderson State University and her Ph.D. from the University of Arkansas. Her academic interests include Vertebrate Zoology, Ornithology, Behavioral Ecology, and Bird-Parasite Interaction.
