Van Nostrand Recognized in Top 100
Van Nostrand Recognized in Top 100
As part of Texas Womans Universitys 100th anniversary,
the College of
Nursing recognized 100 of its outstanding alumni for their contributions
to nursing. A blind committee selected alumni from hundreds of written
recommendations. All candidates held either a bachelor, masters, or
doctoral degree from TWU.
Dr. Joyce Van Nostrand was recognized as one of Texas Womans
Universitys Great 100 Nursing Alumni at a Dallas Awards Luncheon
in
October 2001. Dr. Van Nostrand graduated from TWU with a Ph.D. in
Nursing in 1992, and is the current Chair of the Department of Nursing,
NSU Muskogee campus.
My vision of delivering a RN-BSN program to rural
Oklahoma resulted in
it being the first offered by interactive television, and by the
Internet at NSU. This has perhaps been my greatest accomplishment.
Past nursing contributions included active duty in Saudia
Arabia during
Desert Storm and Education Director for Oklahoma Nurses Association.
Dr. Van Nostrand received an Excellence in Teaching Award from Zeta
Delta Chapter-at-Large, Sigma Theta Tau, in 1999.
