Several other record-breaking notables include overall freshmen enrollment numbers, Tahlequah resident student tallies, credit hour production figures, and NSU Broken Arrow enrollment totals.

More Freshmen. NSU is touting the largest freshmen class in the history of the institution with more than 1,250 first-time students taking classes. This is a more than 10 percent increase from last year. Included in the 2002 freshmen class are 35 students from Japan. The students selected NSU through a national recruitment organization and upon successfully completing their English as Second Language classes, chose to stay and complete their higher education in Tahlequah.

More Residents. More students are choosing to make NSU their home as well in 2002. NSU housing figures show near-capacity levels as the University welcomes the largest number of residents home to the Tahlequah campus. Building additions and renovations continue as NSU makes necessary updates and expansions to the campus housing facilities.

Overall enrollment at the Tahlequah campus has grown with records reporting 7,260 students on the main campus. This is a more than 11 percent increase over last year.

More Coursework. Students are also taking more classes. NSU is extremely pleased to report the highest credit-hour production in its history with 108,265 hours.

NSUBA Enrollment Boom. NSU Broken Arrow touts the biggest enrollment increase. The campus, which opened its doors in May 2001, reported 2,142 students enrolled for the fall semester. This is a more than 100 percent increase over 2001 enrollment figures.

This is further proof that Northeastern State University remains a competitive choice for those seeking a quality, affordable education, said Dr. Larry Williams, NSU President.

NSU is extremely pleased with its efforts not only to attract quality individuals but to keep them here and happy.
