FBI Recruits Students and Fresh Ideas

TAHLEQUAH, OK - The FBI recently announced it will sponsor a unique hands-on industry-education course in which marketing students from three schools around the country will participate and promote a campaign to increase awareness of Special Agent and Professional Support positions, as well as an honors program, to potential applicants in Northeastern Oklahoma.

The three schools participating in the Collegiate Marketing and Recruitment program are: Clark Atlanta University (Atlanta, GA); Morgan State University (Baltimore, MD); and Northeastern State University (Tahlequah, OK).

During the fall semester, 26 business students from Northeastern State University are being given a unique opportunity to put their education to work in the real world. These students will create a working marketing agency and will be responsible for researching, implementing, and evaluating an integrated marketing campaign for their client, the FBI. The students will be given a $2,500 budget to help them bring their plans to life. This unique partnership is part of an industry-education program sponsored by EdVenture Partners, known as, the FBI Collegiate Marketing and Recruitment Program.

This program provides students with the rare opportunity to apply classroom teachings to real-world business practices. Students at each of the three participating schools will form a marketing agency. The goal of the project is to design and implement a marketing campaign aimed at educating their target market about the FBI and the benefits of the career opportunities available to qualified applicants.

The college campus is the ideal environment to teach young adults about the FBI and the career opportunities they provide. And who better to talk to students about exciting new career options than other students? After organizing their agency and researching their target market, the students will spend the first half of the fall semester formulating their marketing strategy recommendations and campaign ideas. They will have the opportunity to design an integrated marketing campaign (IMC) aimed at increasing awareness for the FBI and their recruiting needs. After presenting their concept to the FBI, they will execute their campaign as well as track and analyze its results.

The program culminates in a formal, agency-style presentation by the students to dignitaries and representatives from the FBI. The presentation is a good opportunity for students to develop public speaking and presentation skills, in addition to building self-confidence.

Todays college students are in a catch-22" when entering the job market. They lack experience and find themselves in a situation where they cannot find a job due to their inexperience. The FBI Collegiate Marketing and Recruitment program effectively bridges the gap between industry and education, providing students with the hands-on, experiential, learning necessary to find employment and a business partnership with an organization offer several career options.

EdVenture Partners, an education marketing company based in Berkeley, CA, has designed unique industry-education partnerships at more than 300 campuses across the United States. EdVenture Partners, in conjunction with the FBI, provides each student agency with ongoing resources, guidance, and a project budget to implement their marketing campaign.
