Dr. Allen W. McKiel joins NSU as Director Of Libraries
TAHLEQUAH, OK - Northeastern State University welcomes Dr. Allen W. McKiel as its new director of libraries. McKiel brings more than 24 years' experience to his position with NSU. Most recently he served as library director for Ivy Tech State College in South Bend, Indiana. There, he was responsible for developing plans to implement the statewide virtual library for the Ivy Tech library system as well as directing the three-site regional library services for the college. McKiel holds a Master of Library Science and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from Indiana State University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Purdue University.
In his new position, McKiel will be particularly interested in supporting the endeavors of the librarians in their current efforts to expand electronic resources to all three campuses, as well as coordinating the development of library resources with other Oklahoma academic libraries.
Northeastern proudly welcomes Dr. Allen McKiel to the NSU family, said Dr. Larry Williams, NSU president. His extensive background in library management as well as his grant writing and technical abilities are sure to make a positive impact on the library system at NSU.
