NSU Hosts 35th Annual Honors Assembly
TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University will host the 35th annual Honors Assembly on April 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the NSU Center For Performing Arts. Parents, families, and friends of the recipients are invited to attend. More than 260 awards will be presented to deserving students in several categories including Student Activity Awards, Academic Achievement Awards, and Honor Society Awards. A list of criteria for each award follows.
Student Activity Awards. This award recognizes outstanding students involved in campus organizations and/or activities. Selected by their activity sponsor, recipients must have completed two full semesters at Northeastern and maintain a 3.5 grade-point average.
Academic Achievement Awards - Undergraduate. One student each is selected in each undergraduate degree-granting discipline for the Academic Achievement Award. Each recipient must have completed two full semesters and have a grade-point average of at least 3.5 in the given academic discipline.
Academic Achievement Awards - Graduate. One student is selected in each graduate degree-granting discipline. Recipients must meet the following criteria: have been enrolled in the graduate college within the past year; satisfied all requirements for graduate candidacy; completed a minimum of 24 semester hours toward the Masters Degree, 16 of which must be at the 500 level; will receive approval of the Capstone project (if the degree requires such a project); maintained an overall grade-point average of 3.75 in all graduate work completed.
Honor Society Awards. Students are nominated for this award by faculty or administrators. Recipients must meet the following criteria: must have completed at least two full semesters at Northeastern; have belonged or participated in at least two college-approved organizations or activities while at Northeastern; must have accumulated a grade-point average of 3.5 (if a senior with 90 or more hours), 3.65 (if a junior with more than 60 hours but fewer than 89 hours), 3.75 (if a sophomore with more than 30 hours but fewer than 59 hours); must have demonstrated excellence in academic achievement, citizenship, leadership, group participation, moral and social development.
Whos Who Awards. Students are selected for the Whos Who Award based on the following criteria: scholarship ability; participation and leadership in academic and extracurricular activities; citizenship and service to Northeastern State University; and potential for future achievement.
