TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University - Broken Arrow will be the site for CultureFest 2003. To be held April 28 from noon to 7 p.m., the event is a presentation made possible by NSUBA students in David Eversoles Intercultural Communications class. Under Eversoles guidance, the upperclassman are planning, coordinating, orchestrating, and promoting the one-day Culturefest as part of their final project. Their purpose is to inform and promote cultural diversity within the NSU campus and surrounding community through educational and artistic presentations as well as public speakers in a festival atmosphere.
All are invited to attend this FREE
event, which will take place in and around NSUBAs Building A. Area
vendors, businesses, educational displays by the students involved, and
a cross-section of musical offerings will be featured. Speakers for the
event include Clifton
Taulbert and Dannette McIntosh.
A Pulitzer nominated author and the president and founder of the Building Community Institute, Clifton Taulbert speaks throughout the world on the critical issues of building community. He is the author of the internationally acclaimed book, "Eight Habits of the Heart," a book that provides the framework on which to build, maintain, and sustain a powerful, effective, and caring community.
Dannette McIntosh is the director of Diversity for the American Red Cross. She serves as a national consultant in diversity with a focus on Native American issues, sexuality, and HIV/AIDS. She has been the primary writer of the American Red Cross to develop an American Indian Decision to Survive (AIDS), which has been approved nationally by American Red Cross.
CultureFest 2003 is sponsored by Harts Sportscenter - Tahlequah, Rice Insurance Agency - Glenpool, and Scott Rice Furniture.
