Quad Option Program Now Available for Master of Education in School Administration
TAHLEQUAH Northeastern State University offers four options that will open new doors for teaching professionals seeking advancement opportunities in elementary, middle, or secondary school administration and other areas such as personnel, curriculum development, and federal programs. With Northeasterns Quad Option Program, teaching professionals can pursue a Master of Education in School Administration at their pace and at a fraction of the cost.
The Quad Option Program allows students to choose a plan of study that best fits individual needs, said Dr. Melissa Becker, department chair of Teacher Education. We will be offering an affordable, convenient program in an excellent learning environment.
Individuals can choose from the following Quad Options.
FastTrack: Individuals can finish their degree in 14 months with two summer sessions (June/July) and two regular semesters (Wednesday evenings only). This option is available only at the Broken Arrow campus.
Wednesday evenings only: Students can finish their degree in six semesters (no summers). This option is available on the Tahlequah, Muskogee, and Broken Arrow campuses.
Summer track: Individuals can complete their degree in three summers (June/July). This option is available only at the Broken Arrow campus.
Selective: Students can create their own timeline. This option is available on the Tahlequah, Muskogee, and Broken Arrow campuses.
Total cost of the 36-hour program (excluding books) is only $3,433 - less than comparable programs at other regional institutions.
Individuals wishing to be admitted to the School Administration
program must meeting the following requirements:
1. Be admitted to the NSU Graduate College;
2. Have an undergraduate grade-point average of 3.0 or a score of 35 or
greater on the Miller
Analogies Test or a score of 900 or better (combined verbal and quantities)
on the Graduate Record Exam;
3. Have completed at least 12 semester hours in Education or Psychology,
in order to take courses in professional education for graduate credit;
4. Qualify for a standard Oklahoma teachers certificate/license;
and
5. Earn a passing score on a Writing Competency Exam.
Note: Applicants who have not met admission requirements may be admitted for one semester and must meet program requirements by the end of the first semester. A passing score on the Writing Competency Exam is required before enrolling in the second semester of school administration classes. The written test is administered once a month. Students admitted to the program should meet with an assigned advisor to develop a plan of study.
