Dr. Janice Black joined Northeastern State Universitys management faculty in January
2025, bringing a wealth of experience from diverse educational and professional backgrounds.
With an AA from a community college, BSBA from CSU Sacramento, Ph.D. in Business Administration
(Management, Strategic Management) from Texas Tech University, and Ed. Specialist
from New Mexico State University, her academic journey reflects a commitment to lifelong
learning. Her career spans real estate, retail jewelry, state bureaucracy, and small
family businesses, enriching her perspective on organizational dynamics. Now based
in Mayes County, Oklahoma, she is excited to contribute to NSUs mission of fostering
student success and community engagement, aligning with its vision, mission, and values.
Dr. Blacks passion for education and proximity to her family make NSU an ideal fit.
Dr. Blacks research, with a lifetime of 2,785 citations (per Google Scholar), explores
small business & leadership competencies, regional industries, & now, using AI in
faculty & administrative tasks. Her work supports NSUs vision of advancing knowledge
& regional growth.
Dr. Black teaches management & entrepreneurship, focusing on skills to navigate ambiguity.
Her innovative online pedagogy aligns with NSUs transformative education mission,
preparing students for dynamic careers via experiential learning & leadership development.
